Team Daywalker Round 2
They took over from the Vampires at Time Station #8 which is in Camp Verde, AZ. Team Daywalker set themselves up just off the route in a busy area of town where each car could get gas, water, ice, etc. The lead and follow vehicle took off down the road while the support ran a quick errand J
Jimmy Johns graciously opted to be one of our sponsors for RAAM 2016 and even offered our team some free sandwiches along the route!!! We hopped up to Flagstaff, AZ and store 56 where Melissa and Sarah did a wonderful job! Their team busted out a very large order of sandwiches. I believe there were around 28 made all together, not to mention getting the right amount of each type of potato chip. Thank you to John Rowe and his team at Store 56 for the delicious dinner!!!

Once we caught up with the team they were cruising and bruising. We drove through some gorgeous wooded areas. We had to do a baton style hand off to get the guys their sandwiches. Wish we could have had a Jimmy Johns bike delivery specialist do a rider hand-off exchange, but we weren’t going to be passing through Flagstaff until much later. In case anyone is wondering what the Daywalker cyclists go to Jimmy Johns orders are as follows:
Jeff Zaniker - #4 Turkey Tom with Regular Chips
Rob Fontes – Slim #2 or #4 plain with Regular Chips
Steve Johns - #5 Vito, no onion with Regular Chips
Keegan Greene – Slim 2 and Slim 5 with Salt and Vinegar Chips
There are 3 types of vehicles that we are using on this trip, a lead vehicle, a follow vehicle and the support vehicle. The minivan is our lead vehicle meaning it is working with the active rider and his replacement. The SUV is the follow vehicle which is generally traveling directly behind the active rider on the road. And our Sprinter van is the support which is getting food, ice, water, supplies, etc. and assisting at times on the road. Because of the size of the Sprinter it cannot be a direct follow car, but can assist and take over as lead. If you aren’t already confused by this, feel free to join the crew in the future!!!
