Matt is back again to assist on the road for RAAM 2016. He became involved with Gears after hearing some of the team as keynote speakers at last years MS Challenge Walk in Savannah. Matt currently works as a 911 paramedic in South Carolina and has volunteered with many MS bike and walk events. This year he will be with Team Vampire as, "a medic, definitely a cheerleader, great at navigation, chef, comic relief comes naturally, shopper, gopher, and I also make for a great decoration sitting (or sleeping) on a couch!" Although he isn't directly impacted by MS, Matt has met several people over the years with MS and wants to do what he can to help raise awareness and funds for a cure. Through his connections Matt has gained a true passion for helping to fight MS and eventually end it for good. He is participating in this journey to spread the word and help possibly raise funds for MS research. He would most like to sit down for lunch with Ronald Reagan to, as he puts it, 'get a dose of his kind of reality.' If he could have one super ability it would be that of time travel. Since Matt was on the crew last year he is better prepared for the lack of sleep that will most definitely happen on this cross country journey. |
