It's been a full week since our team completed their journey from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. I've been able to spend the past week getting back into the swing of things as I'm sure have the rest of our riders and crew. Life off the road isn't much different for me as each day presents new challenges, opportunities and perspectives. Driving in LA basically takes just as much time as one of my shifts on the road for the Green Team. The only difference is my bed is stationary instead of mobile.
I've spent the past week telling people about the journey I participated in, and I am once again reminded of the magnitude that is Race Across America. Our team of bikers and crew traveled 3,020 miles in 6 days, 15 hours, 43 minutes. They climbed to 10,856 feet above sea level and maintained roughly a 19 mph average all while sleeping around 4 hours a night. That is no easy task! I am truly amazed at our cyclists determination and the crew's ability to adapt to situations that couldn't be anticipated. Check out the full team details here.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and hope there will be another opportunity to participate in the future. For now, I am thankful for a stationary bed, regular showers, a clean smelling vehicle and that I don't have to stare at 8 dudes rear ends all day (case in point to the right). Thank you Jeff Zaniker for inviting me to participate and the rest of the crew and cyclists for making this an incredible experience that I will never forget. Here's to next year!!! :) | |
