Day 2 on the road has presented itself with some amazing views of this incredible country. From crystal clear skies at night showcasing the stars to once ghost towns now thriving. Scenic mountain passes to winding rivers and streams, the US is beautiful. One of the benefits to traveling across the country at about 20 miles per hour is all the stuff you get to see that you would miss traveling along the interstates. I also had the added benefit of being able to stop in some of these locations while in the support vehicle to get some pictures and videos of these incredible regions.
I started the day in Blythe, CA when the ZZZ Team made it's debut on the road. I hopped in the support vehicle and we made our way to the town of Hope, Arizona where we pulled over for some quick shut eye. I was fortunate enough to wake up just in time to see the sun rising over the mountains. I also was in perfect position to catch Jeff Zaniker getting on the road for an exchange right near this awesome mural! ZZZ Team riders are Jeff Zaniker, John Zaniker, Bill Zeh and Eric Cagle. Although he's adopted the new last name Zagle rather nicely.

The ZZZ's made it all the way to Prescott, Arizona on their first leg and we made another full team exchange to put the Green team back on the road. Clark Griffin, Keegan Greene, Kurt Lorch and Markus Naegeli were back on the road after an average night's sleep of probably 2-3 hours for most. Sleep deprivation is one of the toughest challenges the riders and crew will face throughout the journey. By the time a full team exchange is made, all the gear (bikes, bags, food, etc.) is packed away and the retiring team gets to their hotel to catch some sleep, it's only a couple hours before they need to be back on the road with the RV to jump ahead of the riders for the next exchange. Some may be able to get some power naps in on the RV, but it's not ideal.
Back to the scenic United States! Upon leaving Prescott the Green team made their way down through the town of Jerome. This once booming mining town popped up during the gold rush, but was then completely abandoned becoming a ghost town. Then in the late 1970s people started moving back and populating the area. We stopped in town to grab some grub at the Mile High Grill Inn. After talking to a local police officer we learned that Jerome's population is only about 300 people but the Sunday we drove through was packed full of tourists. We went in to the evening to witness a breathtaking sunset as we drove through an Navajo Indian reservation. The Green team traveled to Kayenta, Arizona for the next full team exchange.
